Puerto Escondido, colorful corner of the Mexican Pacific, is known like the Emerald Coast due to the shades of its crystalline waters, in beautiful contrast with the white sand of the beaches. In the Principal (Main) beach it is possible to practice recreational fishing, capturing species like sailfish, dolphin-fish, marlin and roosterfish; from there, walking by the pedestrian street, you can arrive to Puerto Angelito beach. Those who like diving can enjoy the beautiful submarine landscapes and diverse species of flora and fauna. Carrizalillo and Manzanillo beaches are ideal to snorkeling. On the other hand, Zicatela beach, with waves that sometimes reach 6 meters height, are ideal for surfing. Every year, in the months of August and November, an international surfing contest is carried out in Zicatela, considered as the third best world-wide beach for this sport.

In Puerto Escondido the visitor can taste a wide variety of seafood and regional food. A walk along the pedestrian street (locally called ?El adoquinado?, that means ?sett paved road?) is a must, because of the variety of merchandise that is sold on it. In November, the Coast Dance Festival presents traditional dances of the region. In the beach you can hire a boat trip, whether out to sea or to the bays. They also offer their services if you want to go fishing.
