CULTURAL PRESENTATIONS

Nostalgic evenings, music and ballroom dancing accompanied by the State Band of Music, presentation of diverse artists, under the Bay tree (Laurel) in (main square) of the city and the Oaxacan Culture House, on Wednesday Danzon, Thursday Cultural concert Friday and Sunday

PRESENCE IN MEXICO OAXACA.

At Mall of the Stars of the Mexico City facility and over 200 artisans with the presentation of the Guelaguetza weekend, this time will go to Mexico City from the Mixteca region as guest, Sunday Feb. 28, will be presented with their culture and traditions.

NIGHT OF LIGHTS

Calenda (procession) with lighted lanterns, Bands and Marimbas of the State and Orchestras liven up popular dances. Commercial establishments remain open up to 24 hours a day, promoting their sales by means of special offers in the historic center; the grand finale consists of traditional Oaxacan fireworks.

CARNIVAL IN OAXACA

This traditional event takes place days before Ash Wednesday with the start of Lent in which celebration joy overflows with musical performances and dances characteristic of different populations, which takes place this carnival, the town where traditionally carried out are Puerto Escondido, Tuxtepec Cuilapam, Silacayoapam, Pinotepa de Don Luis, Putla Guerrero Tilcajete San Martín, Santiago Juxtlahuaca Tlaxiaco of the masquerade bands, The Gigants, lanterns with candles lit, the beautiful women Oaxacan whit their basket of flowers and pyrotechnics, showing the joy of our customs and brotherhood among peoples. Coast Carnival will be held 19 to 21, the Carnival will Silacayoapam of 13 to 16 and Tuxtepec Carnival will be held from 26 to 4 Mzo.

INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF FISH MARLIN SPORT FISHING

In a setting of waterfalls and crystal clear water to be carried out sports and cultural activities with the participation of fishing for this unique marine specimen, this event takes place in the Bay of Puerto Angelito

LENT BEGINS.

WITCHES´ TUESDAY IN XOXOCOTLAN

In keeping with the recovery of Oaxacan traditions, you can learn of the Witches´ Tuesday in a town very close to the center of the Capital. The sound of the pre-Hispanic conch shell invites the population to the celebration in which the protagonists are the famous ?witches?, containers made of tin with a petroleum-fed wick, which, as they have done for centuries, illuminate the Tuesday nights of Lent in Xoxocotlán. The townspeople prepare delicious tamales and atole, sweetened with blocks of brown sugar; then they sit under the trees of the central park to sell their delicacies.
